Erwin TN

Happy earth day everybody! Today I am taking a zero day in Erwin Tennesee. We are staying at a hostel outside the town with lots of other hikers. Oh and by we I mean my new hiking buddy cowboy. She is a German girl who also just graduated from high school. Her friend who she was traveling with left the trail so now us and her dog are a hiking pack. The past week was fantastic. Every day, as I get more in my routine, the hiking becomes even more enjoyable. One of my favorite days this week was when we woke up at five and hiked early so we could watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain. We sat there and ate our oatmeal and did yoga and it was amazing. It was one of those moments when all I could feel was bliss, just so happy to be alive. We have been averaging 15 miles a day now so I have plenty of time to reflect and process anything and everything. Most nights we have stayed in shelters so far but I imagine that will change as the weather warms and my hammock set up is more desirable.
The people out here are all quirky and smart. They range in ages from 18 to mid   Sixties. The community and comraderie continues to amaze me. People want to share everything from their trail mix to their saddest stories.
This next week of hiking looks to be great! The terrain is starting to flatten out so we may be able to increase out mileage. We had a lot of fun going shopping and to an all you can eat pizza buffet while in town. Getting to town was a bit tricky as the bikes we rented from
The hostel kept braking, but we chose to see it as only adding to the adventure. The rest of the day holds s'mores and good sleep in our cabin we are sharing with some hiker friends. Below I have posted some of my favorite pictures from
This week. Happy trails everyone!

Enjoying the milkshakes we had been dreaming about in town yesterday. Following this we were offered a ride by another customer to top off the afternoon.
